Disapproving of Shrove Tuesday

Neville is not impressed by what he heard on the BBC Radio Nottingham today - it's Shrove Tuesday, the last of the "fat days" before Lent, and it is tradition in the UK (maybe somewhere else too?) to eat pancakes today. He told me that he doesn't care for sweet or savoury pancakes...he wants his cos lettuce, celery leaves and sticks (nicely chopped in pieces), carrots, parsley and coriander salad. And bananas and an apple piece for dessert. And maybe a few slices of cucumber. And some of the bunny crack.
As obedient slave, I will oblige of course.

Then I asked Miss Eve what she thought of Shrove Tuesday:

She told me that as long as she had pellets, she couldn't really care less what day it was today. Typical bunny, huh?

LOL that Neville is such a gourmet! He is surely thanking his lucky stars that the resident slave is such a good "cook". We have only tried the square bunny crack, I am saving them for training and luring into to travel carrier for our annual trip to the vet which is quite over due. I will see if there will be squabbles !

Interesting to hear about what people eat on Shrove tuesdays. In Sweden, it is traditional to eat a special bun, a sweet bread bun filled with whipped cream and almond paste. It is called a "semla" in Swedish. Lots and lots of calories! If you are really traditional, this is to be eaten with warm milk, but few people do that today. The problem is just that "semla" has become so popular that people start to eat them alreday after Christmas, so the idea is really lost.
I wonder if bunnies would like semla? Probably not, I guess.

It's just as well you don't want pancakes. More for us humans!

Boy, that's quite a meal Neville's demanding! Good thing he has such an obliging mom :D

In Finland we use to eat buns(!) with jam and whipped cream in it. Yes, the name of the pastry really is 'bun'.

Freckles is actually more of a waffle lover! But, as long as there are greens, she doesn't much care what day it is either.

There's not much I like better than a disapproving rabbit. :-) (His slave sounds very well trained).

Thanks for visiting my blog.

No pannycakes to celebrate Mardi Gras. Well, one must watch one's figure. I wish I had it so good, having my veggies cut up for me. I would be thrilled to have a veggie chef on staff.
